Terms of Use

Last updated: November 1, 2026

These terms apply to your use of devopsmedium.com, its content, and the DevOps Medium repositories on GitHub ("DevOps Medium", "we", "us"). By using the site you agree to them. If you don't agree, please don't use the site.

Summary

  • Our tutorials, lab manuals, projects and scripts are for learning. They are provided "as is", without any warranty.
  • You are responsible for what you run. Read every command and script first, test outside production, and keep backups.
  • Docs are licensed under CC BY-NC-SA 4.0 and scripts under MIT. Our name and logo are not licensed.
  • To the extent the law allows, we are not liable for any loss or damage from using the content.

Educational Content Only

Everything on DevOps Medium is general educational information about cloud, DevOps and related tools. It is not professional, security, legal or compliance advice, and it is not a substitute for advice that fits your systems, data and obligations.

Cloud platforms, tools and best practices change quickly. A page may be out of date, incomplete or wrong for your setup even when it was accurate when written. Check the official documentation of each tool before relying on a step.

Commands, Scripts and Your Systems

Many pages ask you to run commands, apply configuration or execute scripts from DevOps-Medium/scripts. These can change, break or delete systems and data, open network access, or create resources that cost money. Before you run anything:

  • Read and understand it, and only run it on systems you own or are authorised to change.
  • Test it in a non-production environment first.
  • Back up the data and configuration it could affect.
  • Watch your cloud bills. Shut down resources you create while following a tutorial when you've finished. You are responsible for any charges from your providers.
  • Protect your secrets. Never paste real passwords, keys or tokens into examples you share, and replace example credentials before use.

No Warranty

The site, its content and the scripts are provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of accuracy, completeness, merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, security and non-infringement. We don't promise that the site will be available, uninterrupted or free of errors, or that any content will produce a particular result.

Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, DevOps Medium, its authors and contributors are not liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, special, consequential or exemplary damages arising from your use of, or inability to use, the site, its content or the scripts. This includes data loss, downtime, security incidents, service charges, lost profits and damage to systems, even if we were told such damage was possible.

Some jurisdictions don't allow certain warranties to be excluded or liability to be limited. In those places, our liability is limited to the smallest amount the law allows.

Licences

  • Docs: the written content (tutorials, lab manuals, projects and articles) is licensed under Creative Commons Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 4.0. You may share and adapt it for non-commercial purposes if you credit DevOps Medium with a link to the original page and share your adaptations under the same licence. The source is mirrored in DevOps-Medium/docs.
  • Scripts: the scripts in DevOps-Medium/scripts are licensed under the MIT License, including for commercial use.
  • Name and logo: "DevOps Medium", the logo and the site's design are not covered by these licences. Don't use them in a way that suggests we endorse you or your work.
  • Third-party material: product names, logos and trademarks of tools and cloud providers belong to their owners. Mentioning them doesn't imply any affiliation or endorsement.

Acceptable Use

When you use the site, please don't:

  • Attempt to break, overload or gain unauthorised access to the site, its accounts or its infrastructure.
  • Scrape the site in a way that degrades it for others. Reading our llms.txt and the .md version of any page is welcome.

  • Republish our content commercially, or without credit, outside the terms of its licence.

Third-Party Sites and Services

Pages link to and embed content from other sites and services, such as GitHub, YouTube and cloud provider documentation. We don't control them and aren't responsible for their content, availability or practices. Their own terms and privacy policies apply.

We show ads through Google AdSense to keep the content free. Ads are provided by third parties, and an ad doesn't mean we endorse the product or advertiser. See the Privacy Policy for how advertising cookies work and how to change your choice.

Privacy

Our Privacy Policy explains what data we collect and how we use it.

Indemnity

If you use our content or scripts in breach of these terms or the law, and someone makes a claim against us because of it, you agree to cover the reasonable losses and costs this causes us.

Changes

We may update the content, the site and these terms at any time. We'll revise the date at the top of this page when the terms change. Continuing to use the site after a change means you accept the updated terms.
